LinkRoundup #3 – More About Blogging

It’s day 7 of the Ultimate Blogging Challenge and the January NaBloPoMo challenge and it’s been an interesting week. How am I doing so far? Well, I posts everyday except yesterday because I got the sudden and very irresistible urge to change my blog theme… which took up a lot of time. I did post twice the day before (on two different blogs) so I guess I’m still on track for my 31 posts but I’m still going to try and post twice here on this blog today to make up for it because I’m kinda beating myself up about it. Gotta stop that.

On a personal growth note, I also realized something about myself this week… even though I love to write and am usually overflowing with ideas I’ve got this bad habit of putting off my blogging until the end of the day. It’s almost like I’ve got some weird block that is keeping me from getting it done early in the day, which is my goal. One of my goals this month is to explore this obstacle and  overcome it.

So, since I’m very focused on blogging this month, I want to share some posts that I read this week that offer some incredibly valuable information that I believe you’ll benefit from.

Here’s Link Roundup #3:

The 8 Habits of Highly Effective Bloggers - by Annabel Candy (from the Copyblogger blog). Given the title, this sounds like something Stephen Covey would write, so you almost expect that its going to be fantastic… and it is. It offers some great advice that anyone who’s serious about blogging should follow. These tips are so good I wrote them on a post-it note and stuck it on my wall… yeah, they’re that good.

Top Ten Reasons I Haven’t Commented on Your Blog (Yet)by Michelle Shaeffer. She’s one of the fabulous women behind the UBC and someone I’ve followed for about a year now. This article offers some important things to consider if you’re trying to increase the number of comments you get on your blog. One thing I want you to pay special attention to is the Slide Share presentation she did for this post (you can find it at the bottom).  This is a superb example of repurposing your content and a great traffic strategy.  Create quality blog articles that you can turn into slide show presentations and share on various slide show sharing sites like Slide Share. This is something I plan on implementing this year – awesome strategy!

Building a Better Blog in 2012 - by Meagan from Sunshine and Sippy Cups. Meagan is a mommy blogger and a  UBC participant whose blog I found this week by being a part of this fabulous community. This article shares some great info on how she plans to improve her blog this year by participating in another challenge – The Build a Better Blog Challenge – based on the book by Darren Rowse of Problogger. Definitely worth checking out!

That’s all I’ve got for you for now. If you’re participating in any of the blog challenges this month, I’d love to hear how it’s going for you. Did you get all your posts done this week? Was getting your posts done easy peasy or was it like pulling teeth? Or, if you’re not participating in a challenge, let me know what you thought of the links from the roundup. 3. Hey Mikayla,

Thanks so much for the mention and link. I had a lot of fun creating that slideshow to share with the blog post. :)
