As we close out 2011, I’ve been reflecting on my progress and setting goals for 2012. I’m so excited about this coming year and I’ve got big plans to make it my best yet! As I was planning, I had a magnificent idea that I HAD to share with you… a plan to leverage two blog challenges at the same time so that you can maximize your income & profit potential while finally breaking out online and getting the exposure you deserve. Sound good? Well, then follow me for a few minutes…
First, what are blog challenges?
If you’ve never heard of them, blog challenges are events (and sometimes contests) where the participating bloggers come together to accomplish a common goal by the end of the challenge. The most common are 30-day blog challenges (or 31-days, depending on the month), which creates a goal for each blogger to publish a post every day of that month by the end the challenge.
What are the benefits of participating in blog challenges?
The first and most beneficial aspect of participating in a blog challenge is getting the accountability and motivation you need to make posting a daily habit! I’ve resisted blogging every day in one way or another but am making it a top priority in 2012. I’ve come to realize the serious power bloggers out there blog at least once a day, every day. John Chow. David Wood. Darren Rowse… and many others. Blogging daily builds the amount of content you have online (not to mention your authority), it increases exposure, and it has the potential to increase leads and sales all at the same time. Blogging a few times a week is a good start, but if you really want to maximize your exposure and your earning potential, publishing good content every day is what you need to do.
Blog challenges create a community among those who come together to participate in the challenge. This allows you to meet and network with other bloggers. You read, share, and comment on their blogs, and in turn they do the same for your blog. This reciprocal support provides all blog challenge participants with more exposure and visibility for their blogs, plus you get to make some new friends and valuable connections in the process.
How You Can Leverage the Power of Two Blog Challenges, Finally Breakout Online, & Boost Your Income
Step #1 – Join the Empower Network (EN). When you join, you’ll be given a blog on the EN viral blogging system, which will allow you to benefit from the networks authority and traffic. Joining EN also eliminates the technical skill usually required to setup and maintain a blog. This allows you to focus on creating content and marketing! Already have a blog on your own domain? Awesome – me too! After you join, I’ll show you how I tie my blogs together to get the most out of both web properties so you can do the same.
OK so, technically the Empower Network isn’t a blog challenge… but in truth it actually is despite it not being promoted as one. You see, when you join EN, one of the first steps is to go through the EN Fast Start training that includes 8 Core Commitments. One of the commitments is to “blog daily” – every day, 7 days a week – because this simple principle is at the foundation of David Wood’s monumental success. David created EN as a means to empower people through the power of the EN blogging system and by massively increasing your monthly income with 100% commissions. The real power comes with your commitment to his simple “blog daily” philosophy on the EN viral blogging platform because it has authority and traffic built in. Plus, by joining EN you’ve got built-in blog monetization and a plug-in-play, high converting sales funnel. This means you don’t have to worry about HOW to make money from your blog. No blog installation or setup is required. No figuring out how to monetize your blog (though you can certainly add your business, products, and affiliate links too). No configuring a sales funnel… it’s all done for you. In case you missed ‘em, I explained why I joined EN and I also shared some facts about EN in previous posts.
Step #2 – Join the Ultimate Blog Challenge (UBC). The ladies behind UBC host a challenge a few times each year. The next challenge starts January 1st, 2012, and lasts for the full 31-days. According to the UBC rules, you can post more than once a day and then skip a day to achieve your 31 posts, but I encourage you to post daily, even if you decide to schedule some of your posts in advance. Joining this challenge provides visabilty and links for your blog with a listing on their Bloggers page, as well as any tweets you make and tag with “#blogboost” because they show up on the #blogboost page.
Other fabulous perks to joining the UBC is that each of the 31 days you’ll receive an email reminding you to blog, complete with tips and suggestions on what to blog about. If you’re a network marketer, you can certainly blog about your business, your opportunity, and your company products. You can also blog about how you’re building your business, your marketing strategies, and so much more. You can basically blog about whatever you want… but for many people, coming up with new blog post ideas is one of the hardest things about blogging. The UBC daily email tips and blog post suggestions is one perk that shouldn’t be overlooked because it can give you the ideas you need to make blogging a daily habit in 2012.
Step #3 – Blog Daily, Promote Your Posts, and Engage with Both Communities. Join EN & UBC, fully commit to blogging daily, then promote your posts while engaging in both the EN & UBC communities – that’s the plan in a nutshell. UBC provides a daily checklist to keep you on track for the 31-day posting schedule, complete with how to promote your posts. The promotion plan include tweeting your post (don’t forget to add the #blogboost hastag), adding your post to the UBC Facebook group, and commenting on a blog or two each day. This is a great first step in promoting your posts within the UBC community. My Empower Network team also offers additional video training on ways to promote your posts. If you decide to run with this challenge strategy and join EN & UBC with me, I’ll send you my complete blog promotion plan so you can use it as well, which is going to be like putting your blog promotion plan on crack!
Next week, I’m going to be sharing some tips about time management, goals setting, motivation, and changing your habits to help you create your plan for 2012. I want to help you create the most successful and prosperous year you’ve ever had! Following the blog challenge strategy I outlined above is a sensational way to start 2012 with focused action and purpose. I’m not saying that all 31 days will be easy, but this plan has the potential to yield fantastic results if you really give this strategy your all. Can you think of a better way to jump start your business in the new year? 2012 is the year to finally breakout online, breakthrough your limitations, build your business to new heights, and start generating a serious income online. Are you up for it? Leave me a comment below and let me know what you think!

Wow, Mikayla! What a powerful, informative post!
I realize I should be blogging daily as well, and you are absolutely right that the power bloggers, the ones that are the most successful, blog daily. You can gain traffic simply by blogging once or twice a week, but you gain a lot more influence by blogging once a day, even if it’s just a little post, as long as it’s SOMETHING.
And the thing is, I have so many blogs to write, I don’t know why I just don’t write them! LOL
Thank you for the networking links, too! I’m going to go join them ASAP!
Thank you for the article! Good luck with your goals!

You’re very welcome, Morgan! I’m glad you found it helpful. I usually have a ton of ideas too when it comes to blog posts, but for the longest time I just never got around to writing them. The WP Editorial Calendar plugin has helped me A LOT! You can view all of your posts in calendar format and then use the “new post” feature from that interface to jot down all of your blog post ideas. It makes it so much easier to come back later and flesh out your posts individually while keeping track of your content plan for the week/month.
Hi this is my first blog challenge myself. I decided to do it to challenge myself to write more and also connect with other bloggers. Cool site you have here i also looked at your youtube page real quick. I look forward to reading more as the month goes by.
