I’m no stranger to blogging, but I haven’t always been good at it. When I started my first blog many years ago, I had no idea what I was doing. I was all over the place and didn’t have any focus at all. But over time I developed my voice and I educated myself about blogging. If you’re just getting started with blogging or you already started a blog and still feel like you don’t know what you’re doing, this beginner blogging tips are for you.
#1 – Never Lose Sight of Your Readers – This is one of the most important things to remember when it comes to blogging. Never lose focus of the fact that your blog is nothing without those who are reading it. You need to write for them. Strive to create content that in some way enhances their lives. Write posts that share your knowledge. Write posts that keep your readers informed about all the new things happening in your niche. Write to inspire, empower, and entertain your readers. Allow your readers to get to know you. You’ve got to be yourself and let your personality come through in your writing in order for your blog to stand out and shine among the others bloggers.
#2 – Write consistently and as frequently as you can. This is one beginner blogging tip you should never forget because consistency is key when it comes to blogging. If you can, blog daily. If you can’t blog everyday, find a posting schedule that works best for you and then stick to it. For some people that’s just a few times a week. Many bloggers feel that blogging daily is crucial to success, but I didn’t always believe that. I do believe that you can still succeed by blogging less often, but when you blog daily you start a compounding effect that, in time, results in a massive amount of your content on the web. This not only brings authority to your blog but it also gives people more opportunities to find you on the web.
#3 – Write content that kicks butt and engages your readers. If you’ve chosen a blog topic that you know a lot about and have a passion for (which is ideal) then this will usually come naturally for you. You will have a wealth of knowledge to share and you’ll usually have an interesting take on certain topics that others don’t. When you’re first getting your blog established, try to churn out some articles full of rich content. These articles will establish your blog with the content it needs to provide your readers a good blog experience and they will develop your blog for the search engines as well. Here a few ideas for your articles:
- “How to” Articles – Teach your readers how to do something. Explain your topic in enough detail so that it is easy for someone else to follow.
- A List – Find a topic in your niche (things, websites, topics, or people) that you can put in a list (kinda like the post you’re reading right now).
- A Definition Piece – Take the time to define and explain something in your niche that your readers should know about and will enjoy.
If you implement these simple beginner blogging tips, your blog will have a good core foundation… which everyone knows you need to in order to kick butt!
