I’ve been sharing some of my best blogging tips with you over the last few days, so today I wanted to address the common question of how to make your blog a profitable venture. This post will not address the various ways to monetize your blog, but the six simple steps below will work for anyone who is using their blog to promote their network marketing opportunity or company products and services.
STEP 1: Do Keyword Research and Optimize Your Posts
I recently posted a comprehensive keyword research guide that explains what keyword research is and how to perform this all-important task. Once you’ve chosen your target keyword for your blog, you’ll want to be sure you use it to optimize your post. Here’s how:
- Use your keyword in your blog post title (most blog themes have designated the H1 tag as the blog post title, which is an important SEO factor).
- Insert a photo and designate your keyword as your alt tag.
- Add 5-7 tags to your post, including your target keyword and variations of that keyword.
- Include your keyword within your blog post content naturally. You can increase the effectiveness of your in-content keywords by making them bold, underlined, or italicized. Shoot for a keyword density of 1-3%. You can check the keyword density here.
- Make your blog post length 300-500 words.
STEP 2: Create a Title That Packs a Punch
When you promote your posts (which I touch on below), your post title is very often the first thing that people see, so it’s got to catch their eye and make them want to read more. Use enticing words like secrets and revealed, while taking care not to forget your target keyword. Take the title of this post, for example. I could have simply called it “How to make your blog profitable” but isn’t the title I chose a bit more inviting?
STEP 3: Create Quality Content that Teaches Instead of Sells
If you’re scratching your head wondering how not selling can be a profitable blogging tip, stick with me for a minute and I’ll explain. First, your goal should always be to provide value to your readers, so not every post should have the blog content goal of making a sale. When that is your blog goal, you still want to provide value to your reader by offering them additional information that they can use (whether it be how to use your product, specific benefits of the product, etc.). Although people like to buy, they generally do not like to be sold so you’ve got to find a balance between producing quality content that actually helps people and making the sale.
STEP 4: End with a Call to Action
If your blog post shares information about your product or service, you can end with a soft call to action like, “For information on XYZ product, click here.” Or you could end with a stronger call to action such as, “Product XYZ is currently on sale for a limited time. Click here to order now!” The important thing is that you ask for the click and provide those readers who are ready to buy a way to order.
STEP 5: Blog Consistently
Take it from someone who has struggled with this one thing for far too long – blogging consistently can make or break your blog! You have GOT to be consistent in your efforts – bottom line. As I outlined in my kick butt blogging tips post, if you can blog daily that is best, but if you need to choose a posting schedule that fits your schedule as long as it’s at least a couple times a week.
STEP 6. Promote Your Posts!
About fifteen years ago, you could have created something online and it would be found by others across the web without any effort. Well, those days are gone! You’ve got to share your content – you’ve got to promote your content! You can promote your blog using services like Facebook and Twitter, among many others. In fact, I’m going to be sharing some easy blog promotion ideas in future posts, so be sure to keep a lookout for that.
There you have it – six powerful yet simple profitable blogging tips! Be sure and leave me a comment below to tell me what you think, ok? Oh and if you’re ready to start blogging but don’t have the technical knowledge (or desire) to setup your own profitable blog, this viral blogging system is just for you.

Mikayla,
blogging is a very powerful thing but like you put it we must really be consistent as internet marketers.
Me I post one article post every single day and I set up a written plan to promote my article and drive traffic to it as soon as I write it.
And with step three providing quality instead of selling that is the most important we could do is add value. Each and every one of my post I write I consider them unique and full of value.

Absolutely, Kenny. Blogging consistently each day is fantastic and that’s my goal as well. I’ve found a good way to be consistent is to create a weekly content plan, so you can at least have an idea of what you’re going to write each day. Promoting your blog posts is something that many new bloggers don’t do, but also super important!
