What’s Your Ultimate Blog Challenge Promotion Strategy?

Wow, I am really starting the Ultimate Blog Challenge with a bang, aren’t I?  LOL  I had this post created a couple of days ago and wanted it to post this morning, as it was closely matched to yesterday’s topic.  Then, low and behold, somehow the content just disappeared… when I opened it to see why it didn’t post the entire post was gone except the title! The weirdest thing ever and something that has never happened to me in my many years as a WordPress fanatic. Sheesh. I managed to dig up a partial auto saved version and get it back to where it needs to be for publishing because I’m determined to get this post up today! Let’s digg into the blog topic at hand, shall we?

Leverage Your Time By Automating Part of Your Promotion Strategy

If you’re like me, you’re in favor of automating any part of your promotional strategy that can be done safely (i.e. as not to upset the search engines) while still being effective. Automating parts of your promotional plan will allow you to leverage your time so that you can focus on creating content and making connections.  Here are some great methods I recommend:

  • Automate your socialbookmarking by using the Onlywire pluginOnlywire is one of my favorite promotional strategies. Using this service allows you to auto-submit your content to up to 42 of the highest ranked social media sites.
  • Use NetworkedBlogs on FacebookNetworkedBlogs is a Facebook application that connects you to their online blog community, it allows others to discover and “follow” your blog, and you can also automatically syndicate your posts on Facebook & Twitter.
  • Join a Tribe  to have your content shared by other tribe members – Tribes are becoming increasingly popular because they allow you to connect with like-minded individuals who have the same goal – to create good content and share it. You share their content and they share yours – it’s a win-win. Oh and be sure to contact me if you decide to join my Tribe with a Plus or Pro account and are interested in becoming one of my auto-syndication partners! :)
  • Use BlogEngage‘s RSS Syndication Service – The BlogEngage website is a blog community and blog aggregator where you can share your content and allow the members to vote on it, making it more popular. Their RSS Syndication service automatically syndicates your blogs content to Blog Engage and their portfolio of social media websites such as BlogSerp, Top Blogged, Blogger Ink, and Blogger Tag.

Make Sure Your Promotion Strategy Includes Connecting With Others

As much as I love automation, nothing takes the place of actually connecting with people – that’s what network marketing is all about, right? So, as part of your blog promotion strategy consider committing part of your day to doing something similar to the following:

  • Post 1-2 comments on other blogs – Try to be the 1st to comment on popular blogs whenever possible (those comments usually get the most attention and the most traffic) but don’t neglect the less popular blogs as well (especially those that belong to your newly formed connections)
  • Join a discussion or two on either Blogcatalog or BlogFrog - These blog communities are great for making connections. Check out my post MyBlogLog is Being Discontinued – Now What? for more info.
  • Share your content with 10-20 Facebook groups – If you use this strategy, vary the links you share by posting a combination of your blog post link, your NetworkedBlogs  link, and a shortened post link (Bit.ly, etc.)  while staggering these Facebook posts at the same time. Using link variations and taking it slow will help keep you from upsetting Facebook ;)

Which blog promotion strategies do you use and why? No matter if you use some or all of the promotion strategies above, I’d love to hear what you think.
