Last week, I shared some insights I got from the book Beach Money, by Jordan Adler. I wanted share one more concept I learned from Jordan’s book that I’ve been trying to implement into my daily life. It’s about breaking everything down into “three easy steps.” It’s about stripping away all of the extra stuff and focusing on the bare bones of what needs to be done in order to accomplish the task. He provides the example of flying an airplane, which would require you to learn how to do three things: 1) Take off, 2) Fly, and 3) Land. Yes, there are many different steps and tasks required in between, but when you boil it down – that’s really all there is. The “three easy steps” method helps you to simplify things so that you can set clear goals and reduce the chance of getting overwhelmed. To explain the effect that this simple concept has had on Jordan and his success, he explains:
That simple lesson made my life infinitely more manageable and expanded my bank deposits beyond my wildest dreams. In fact, my Beach Money lifestyle kicked in when I began breaking down my projects, goals, and dreams into three easy steps. A Beach Money lifestyle is a few months away for you too if you will apply this simple concept.
I really took this chapter to heart and started breaking down things in my life into three easy steps. One of the things I broke down was the process of achieving online marketing success. After finishing up the Inner Circle Alliance coaching, I have realized a few things. One is that not only are there many different ways to market your business online… but that so many of them work. The reason people don’t think that many of the marketing techniques work is because they are not giving them time to work by taking consistent massive action. You have to perform your online marketing activities… consistently… every day. Yes, you can do a little every day (which is definitely better than nothing at all) and you will see results… but if you want to see big results and fast – you’ve got to take massive action.
Now that you understand the need for consistent massive action for online marketing success, you can pretty much take your pick of the various online marketing techniques and just apply these three easy steps.
1. Create your content. It can be a blog post, a video, an article, etc. Just create a piece of content that creates value for your target audience that can be published online and leads them back to your offer (lead capture page, sales page, etc.). Write it, design it, shoot it, whatever – just get it done.
2. Publish your content. Make sure that blog post is published, that article has been submitted to an article directory (or Web 2.0 site, etc.), or that video has been uploaded to YouTube (or MetaCafe, Viddler, etc.). The content does you no good unless you publish it online.
3. Promote your content. Now you’ve got to let everyone know about your kick-butt content! Bookmark it using social bookmarking sites, send an email to your list, tweet your link out on Twitter, email your Facebook friends, post your link in your Facebook groups, Digg it, Stumble it, submit your RSS feed to RSS directories, ping your blog, etc. Just promote like crazy!
That’s it. That’s the secret to online marketing success. Follow those three easy steps and do them every single day consistently. And, if you want faster results then do those three steps several times a day!

Absolutely Mikayla! So many people are searching for the SECRET traffic source. All they really need to do is think about how they get to know about other people’s content…Do they see it on Facebook? Then share it on Facebook! Do they google it? Then Learn about Google SEO. Pick something you LOVE (for me it’s blogging/facebook) and apply consistent daily MASSIVE action til you start FLYING!
Have a great day Mikayla!

Absolutely, Rachael! I have to admit that I’m one of those people who used to be constantly looking for that secret traffic source… then I began to see a pattern – those who were successful were simply picking the strategies they were interested in and running with them. Posting, publishing, and promoting like crazy! I know you’ve been doing this and are seeing massive success yourself, which is such an inspiration!
Thanks for commenting – you rock!
You have summed it up in a nutshell, and quite nicely I might add. Online marketing really is not as hard as some make it out to be. While there certainly is a learning curve, if one would learn the simple concepts you have laid out here they would most definitely be ahead of the game.

Is that three easy steps are enough to generate great traffic? Sorry but I doubt it can.

Hi Pathan,
It depends on what you mean by “great” I suppose. If you mean “quality” traffic, it definitely does. If you mean “massive” traffic, it has the potential to build over time with consistent effort, but I do recommend more than one traffic generation technique if you’re looking to build A LOT traffic. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
Mikayla,
Simple is the perfect way to describe what you just said here.
I think what confuses some marketers the most is when they hear the statement “content is king” which by all means is true but it doesn’t tell the whole story. Great content is great when paired up with the right marketing strategy, otherwise it’s just another content that didn’t meet its full potential because of lack of promotion.

You hit the nail on the head, Debbie. There are a lot of great blogs out there that are full of great content but simply not enough promotion so that no one knows they’re out there. The Internet is so different than it was 10-15 years ago when webpages were so much easier to find. With tons of websites being created each day and many of them competing for the same keywords and customers, you’ve got to do a little more to be found by the people you’re looking for.
